Preliminary casting breakdown

Nathan James Thomas’s current casting package identifies 37 performers across lead, supporting, day-player, voice, photographic, non-speaking and background work. The breakdown below is preliminary. Playing ages, language requirements and role details may be refined before the casting date.

Group A: Leads and major supporting roles

• Bobby: male, Caucasian, plays 58 to 65. Native American English. Lead role.
• Young Bobby: male, Caucasian, plays 25 to 30. Native American English. Must be castable as Bobby 34 years earlier.
• Magdalena, present day: female, Polish, plays 55 to 60. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Young Magdalena: female, Polish, plays 21 to 25. Fluent Polish and English required. Must visually match present-day Magdalena.

Group B: The Callahan children

Four biracial American siblings with native American English. They work as an ensemble and may be invited to a group chemistry read.

• Robert: male, plays 30 to 35.
• Cassie: female, plays 27 to 33.
• Corey: male, plays 25 to 30.
• Millie: female, plays 24 to 30.

Group C: Polish men, late 20s to 40s

• Prof. Kryspin: major supporting role, plays 35 to 45. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Maciej: major supporting role, plays 33 to 42. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Jacek: supporting role, plays 33 to 45. Polish and English required.
• Uber Driver: day player, plays 30 to 40. Polish with a short English comedy beat.
• Psychiatric Nurse 2: cameo, plays 30 to 40. Polish with one short English line.

Group D: Polish men, 18 to late 20s

• Błażej: supporting role, plays 20 to 27. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Teenager: male, plays 17 to 19. Polish and English required.
• Attendant: plays in the 20s. Polish and English required. Final character details remain subject to confirmation.

Group E: Women, late teens to early 30s

• Ilona: major supporting role, plays in the 30s. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Ola: plays early 20s in the 1989 storyline. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Hostel Clerk: day player, plays in the 20s. Polish and English required.
• Young Italian Girl: plays in the 20s. Italian and English required.
• Agnes: featured non-speaking role, plays in the 20s.
• Younger Girl: featured non-speaking role, plays approximately 18.

Group F: Men, 40s to 50s

• Paweł: supporting role, plays in the 50s. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Conductor: day player, plays in the 50s. English required.
• Dad: supporting role, plays in the 40s. Polish and English required.
• Italian Bartender: day player, plays in the 40s. Italian required.

Group G: Women, 40s to 60s

• Janka: major supporting role, plays in the 40s. Fluent Polish and English required.
• Mom: supporting role, plays in the 40s. Polish and English required.
• Angry Woman: day player, plays in the 50s. Polish and English required.
• Psychiatric Nurse 1: cameo, plays in the 40s. Polish required.
• Oktawia: supporting role, plays in the 60s. Polish required.

Group H: Senior performers

• Felka: major supporting comedy role, plays in the 80s. Polish and English required.
• Aleksy: supporting comedy role, plays in the 70s. Polish required. The role has a specific physical comedy requirement.
• Olek: supporting comedy role, plays approximately 72 to 85. Broken but functional English required.
• Babcia: supporting comedy role, plays 90+. Polish required, with one short English line.

Groups I and J: Voice, photographic, non-speaking and background work

• Woman on Phone: Polish-language voice role, plays in the 60s.
• Maja Nowak: optional photographic role, castable as Magdalena’s identical twin.
• Denise Callahan: photographic role, Black American woman, castable as the mother of four biracial adults.
• Police Officers: two non-speaking roles, plays 25 to 45.
• Background performers: period Rome 1989, present-day Poland and the Paris coda. Ages and identities varied.
• Additional voice and screen assets: details for synthesized voice and on-screen profile content will be handled separately from performer applications.
